the big send off!

So, after working SUPER hard to get all of our shoeboxes packed last week we finally dropped them off so they could begin their journey into the hands of some children who need them.

On Saturday, we loaded up the car with 27 boxes (our 25 and then two from Ben and Heather) and took them to a local church where they will be loaded up and taken to the next step on their route.

Here is Abby guarding the boxes - packed and ready to go!

Because of all the help from wonderful and generous family and friends, and because we made it a point to be very selective in what we bought and to find things for good prices, we were able to fill the boxes with school supplies, candy, toys and toiletries for each child.

And we definitely learned quite a bit through this process! It was a lot of work and it definitely stretched us, but it was so rewarding in the end. We're excited to see what next year has in store! And we have loved being able to share the steps of the process with you (even if I was a little slack and didn't post enough).

Operation Christmas Child really is such a great ministry and allows so many people to experience what it's like to give. They do so much for the children who receive their gifts. And if you haven't checked them out yet, I really do urge you to.

Thanks to everyone who was a part of this experience! We hope to be able to share in many more like it with y'all. :)
